Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

Hi, I'm Marilyn Mejia, Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Diagnostic Privilege.

I believe deeply in the preservation of the human experience—the resilience, courage, and capacity for healing that exist within each of us. My work is rooted in honoring each individual's story and walking alongside them as they heal, grow, and create a life aligned with who they truly are.

I provide collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based therapy for adolescents, adults, and seniors navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, women's mental health concerns, and life's transitions.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, I offer a supportive, confidential space where you can grow, heal, and find clarity. I am here to walk alongside you with respect, compassion, and expertise.

I recognize that every person's experiences, strengths, and challenges are unique. Together, we'll identify practical strategies that foster resilience, promote emotional well-being, and support meaningful, lasting change.

Caring For the Caregiver

I have a special passion for working with women, high-achieving professionals, healthcare providers, and fellow mental health professionals. These are individuals who often spend their lives caring for others, meeting high expectations, and carrying significant responsibilities while struggling to prioritize their own well-being.

I am committed to creating a respectful, culturally responsive, and judgment-free therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout the counseling process.

Creating a Foundation for Healing and Growth

I believe therapy is a collaborative journey built on trust, compassion, and understanding. My role is to provide a safe and supportive foundation—a scaffold during times when life feels overwhelming, uncertain, or difficult to navigate.

Together, we work to understand your experiences, identify patterns, develop meaningful tools, and reconnect with the strengths that already exist within you. The goal of therapy is not for you to rely on someone else to carry you; it is to create the support and structure needed until you are able to stand confidently in your own strength.

Helping You Find Clarity, Balance, and Lasting Change

Whether you're balancing the demands of a career, caring for others, navigating a major life transition, or simply feeling overwhelmed, therapy can provide the support and perspective needed to move forward with confidence.

Healing begins with one courageous step. I would be honored to walk alongside you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, experiencing relationship difficulties, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can help. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from counseling. Therapy offers a supportive space to gain insight, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful change.

What should I expect during the first session?

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your personal history, current concerns, and your goals for treatment. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. I provide secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout New York State. Virtual therapy offers the flexibility to receive care from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. I participate with several insurance plans through my credentialing partnerships. Coverage varies by plan. If you're unsure whether your insurance is accepted, please contact me and I'll gladly help verify your benefits.

How long are sessions?

Most individual therapy sessions are approximately 53–60 minutes in length.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to establish momentum and build therapeutic progress. As your goals are met, we may transition to biweekly or maintenance sessions based on your individual needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without notice may be subject to a cancellation fee, unless otherwise required by your insurance plan or applicable regulations.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is extremely important. Therapy provides a confidential and supportive space. Confidentiality may be limited in situations required by law and ethical practice, such as concerns about imminent risk of harm to yourself or others. These limits to confidentiality will be reviewed during your first session.

Do you work with healthcare professionals and therapists?

Yes. I have a particular passion for supporting healthcare providers, mental health professionals, and other caregivers who spend their lives caring for others. Therapy provides a confidential space to process stress, prevent burnout, and prioritize your own well-being.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, and that's completely understandable. My goal is to create a welcoming, collaborative environment where you feel safe asking questions, exploring your experiences, and moving at a pace that feels right for you.
